Six Pixels' Creative Mixer Mixed Media Course
Dates: Weekly on Thursdays
Time: 9-10am
Location: Houston Homeschool Education Program/West Houston Chinese Church
Recommended for ages 8-15 - class is held in person
This STEAM based class meets weekly starting January 11th, 2024 through the end of the semester.
Class Description: Six Pixels' Creative Mixer course blends moviemaking with a creative mixer of other camera techniques and visual arts mediums, including documentary interviewing, YouTube studio production, stop motion animation, photography, special effects, and editing, so students can try their hands at a variety of visual arts experiences. Moviemaking will focus on storytelling, directing, operating camera, lighting, sound, and working together as a team, as students learn how to make their own short films. Stop Motion teaches students how to create characters and stories, through studious and carefully controlled movements that develop camera and editing skills. YouTube production focuses on internet safety, how to build a channel, become an influencer, and create a brand. Photography projects allow students to dive deeper into storytelling through a camera lens, exploring composition, direction, staging, lighting and learning skills that they’ll use way beyond the classroom.
Each class builds a multitude of STEAM skills while working on carefully designed challenges, giving students an opportunity to complete at least one short movie or project each class, and gaining memories that they’ll keep forever.
Classes meet weekly. Students can join at any time if there is availability in the course.
