Rochester School for the Deaf (RSD) is entrusted, empowered, and funded to provide and enhance the learning and life growth experiences in an optimal educational environment for children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Professionals at RSD are focused on providing a strong foundation for the educational, social, and emotional growth of children with hearing loss from birth to age 21. RSD educators and evaluators work closely with families, school districts, and social service practitioners in Western and Central New York to assure the success of every student with hearing loss we serve.

Augustin Children’s Center at CP Rochester offers Early Intervention services to children with disabilities from birth-2 in the child’s home, at the center, or at the child’s daycare, baby sitter’s or in other natural environments. They also offer an integrated preschool that includes 6 children with disabilities and 6 children without disabilities in each classroom with a staff of special educators, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and music therapists. Each day offers experiences in art, music, books, language and social development, and large and small muscle development. Formal music, gym and pool times are offered weekly to each class.

InterActive Therapy Group provides a variety of therapeutic and educational services to children ages birth to five. ITG offers services in the fields of special education, speech and language, occupational therapy, physical therapy and psychology. Evaluations and ongoing therapy are provided in homes, preschool programs, early childhood centers, and at the clinic located at the ITG office. Services are provided through the Early Intervention and Preschool programs, as well as on a private pay basis. They offer a Professional Development Program which offers workshops to child care centers, parents, and community education programs. ITG also offers a popular DIR program for toddlers and preschoolers with autism. This individualized approach focuses on the child’s emotional development and believes that relationships are at the core of learning. ITG is a member of the NYS Educational Incentive Program which offers reimbursement to licensed center-based and in-home childcare providers for professional development.

Holy Childhood is a non-profit, non-denominational agency providing education, vocational training and clinical services to children and adults with developmental disabilities. The Children’s Program serves students ages 5-21 in a caring environment where they’re taught basic academics along with vocational skills in unique classroom settings. Vocational classes include ceramics, woodworking, life skills/cooking, weaving and sewing. The adult program consists of three sheltered workshops – the Special Touch Bakery, Partners With Industry and the Woodworking Shop. Our health clinic serves the needs of both students and adults with medications, counseling and speech and occupational therapy. The agency is located in Henrietta.

The CDS KID Program is approved by New York State and has a contract with Monroe County to provide the following Early Intervention Services: Ongoing Service Coordination, Speech Therapy, Special Instruction, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy. These Early Intervention services for infants and toddlers are provided at no cost where it’s best for your child—in places such as your home, day care, or other community settings. If you have concerns about your child’s development, please call the Monroe County Early Intervention Program at 753-KIDS to refer your child for a free evaluation.
